I'm not sure that this is the best place to post this question, but it is Chevelle related. I need to ship my transmission (TH400) to California and was wondering if anyone had any advice with regard to what carrier or carriers to use. Anybody with any insight on shipping something as heavy as a transmission, please advise.
Many thanks in advance.

I live in Cali. and bought a TCI tranny from Summit in Ohio and it had to be sent by freight carrier.I think it would be too heavy for UPS or FEDEX.

Try FedEx ground. They used to be Roadway Package Express (RPS) but FedX bought them. Forward Air would be another choice too. Good Luck!

Use Yellow Freight, USF, Fedex (x RPS) or any other carrier that can ship it terminal to terminal not directly to your residence. You will have to pick it up at the dock, but it will save you some bucks. Call around.

This subject was kicked around a while back. If I recall correctly, it seems that they really stick it to Joe Blow who just walks in off the street with something to ship. If you can get somebody (friend, small business that you do business with a lot, etc.) who has an account with a freight company to ship it for you, you might save many $$$. I guess like wholesale vice retail.

I just shipped a TH400 from S.C. to California. Southeast Freight lines Quote me a price of $150. It was shipped freight collect but has not got there yet. Whatever you do get a quote # and reference this when you ship it.
