: Sun Voltameter installation confusing instructions

i have a 70 w/ a smallblock and i just need to know what connection points to use for the aftermarket guage??? the damn instructions are conflicting with each other they say one thing then say Don't do that same thing. if anyone has installed these Triple guages please let me know where you connected the pos and neg. thanks jk

If you're installing a voltmeter, you'll want the neg to just be a ground to the body, and the positive should connect to the little plug on the fuse block marked "ign," that way, the voltmeter will monitor voltage whenever the ignition is turned on.

are you sure?? i can do wiring but the voltameter needs to have a sort of "drag" on it doesn't it? your idea is like hooking up a car radio. or other accesories but i guess i could try it.jk

Havoc is correct, all the voltmeter needs is a good ground and a 12 volt source that comes on with the ignition.

thank god it's that ez the diagram has me connecting it at the alternator or starter or near but not directly at battery etc. was driving me nuts

The instructions may also include the connections required for an AMP meter. Be sure of which you are connecting, VOLT or AMP meter. The only reason I bring this up is that you asked about "drag?" maybe you meant Shunt. And yes an Amp meter has a shunt in it. Just for safety, be sure which you have before turning the key.
