I want a CI hood badly, but I cant afford all the components, Is it ok to just by the hood and the flapper for now. Because Paint is next and this is all that is holding me from getting it sprayed. or should I just buy the non func. CI hood? I would like all your opinions. thank-you.

Depends on what you really want in the end. If you definitely want the "flapper" hood go ahead and get it and add the other components later.

You can save some money and have full time cool air flow by not using any of the inner flapper parts and buy the CI air cleaner instead, as your funds permit of course. I bought the whole works only to realize the inner flapper is mostly useless except for a stock restoration job. The hood flapper is just a fun gadget to have but the real benefit is from air entering the rear of the hood and being directed to the carb. Thats why the CI air cleaner is the most important part of the CI setup.
Hope this helps!

Buy the hood and outer door and the few parts that it takes to attach the door and make it work. Later add the rest as $$$$$$ permit. A CI hood totally changes the personality of of a 70-2 Chevelle. It's like strapping a Colt .45 onto a person. Doesn't matter if he can out draw and out shoot anyone else, he just looks dangerous.
