I'm the new owner of a '72 Chevelle Malibu, with bucket seats and a center console. The guy I bought the car from had lost the console key years ago. Is there any way for me to get a new key made, or do I have to replace the whole thing? Thanks.

Just look in a Year One catalog or simular catalog and you will see there is no problem buying the lock or any other pieces for your console ,, the parts are not that expenvive ,, if your lid is in poor shape cut it to get door open and get new door and lock

Don't cut anything! http://www.chevelles.com/forum/eek.gif Use a credit card or similiar thin object to place between lid and console. Press inwards an lock pawl(sp?). The lid will be able to be opened w/o a key. Replace if you want to use a key or get a lock smith to rekey. Should use the ignition key, but mayhave been rreplaced at some time maybe? I hope I am not giving away a secret, but anyone should be able to figure this one out.
