This has been brought up before, but I don't remember seeing a definate answer.
The factory amp gauge in my car jumps around a full 180 degrees sometimes when starting the engine. It stays there and operates back & forth just as if it were upright. It may jump back to the upright position while driving or if I turn the headlamps on or high beams it moves to where it should be.
Obviously, the current draw while starting the motor is what pulls it around, and then another heavy current draw pulls it back.
This can't be normal...is it a bad gauge or what? I recently added the gauge package and the wiring goes straight from the gauge to the horn relay and to the battery cable post. Of course, the wiring has fusible link in both sides. Could it be that the factory wiring had some type of resistor or circuitry to keep this from happening?
