i am doing some part hunting and i am wondering what rears from different cars will bolt in without any major work?

Any '64-72 GM "A" body will work. But stay away from the 8.2 inch 10-bolt, because they are weak compared to the 8.5in 10 bolt, and the 12-bolt. The bigger ten bolt can be found in most 71-72 Chevelles, while the older ones will have the 8.2in 10 bolt. Also, the 64-67 rears are an inch shorter on each side, they will fit, but may require a different wheel backspacing.

I was wanting to know the same thing. I have found an 85 Olds Cutlass and was wondering if its rear end will fit. Can anyone tell me how to measure a rearend so I will know for sure?

Mikey, the 85 rear won't fit. even if you change all the lower mounts the upper ears cast into the housing will be wrong. If by chance it is an 8.5" 10 bolt it will be easy to sell for enough money to buy a 12 bolt. There are many people with G bodies built with the 7.5" that would like to have an 8.5". The 8.5's were mostly found in the Monte SS and the Buick GN.
