: A scratch! How do you react?

Okay, it's early saturday morning and this is the day you've been waiting for. The dash you meticulously detailed over the last few weeks is now ready to go back into your car. First part to be reinstalled is the instrument cluster. You carefully lift it into place, aligning..then it happens; while you weren't watching the other end it brushed against the fresh paint on the dash and put a nice scratch into it. You then:
A-Let out a loud scream that wakes half the neighborhhood and brings your family running into the garage to see if they should call 911,
B-Mumble a few choice words before heading to the workbench for that leftover paint you wisely saved for a moment like this, or,
C-Think to yourself,"Hey what the heck, these things happen, I'm sure there'll be more to come"
Something like this has probably happened to all of time and again, so what's your reaction at a time like this?

I'd probably do B. I also have a really bad habit of picking at scratches and chips and making them worse because of that.

all those choices are better than what my dad did to my blue chevelle. We were working on a lawn mower engine or something and he swings the combination wrench behind his head and HITS the 1/4.
"Well you don't have to worry about your first scratch" he sarcasticly said to us

I'd have to say both A and B. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif I'd do my fair share of turning the air blue first (usually mad at myself for doing it) then I go fix it.

I've heard that the memory is the second thing to go.
I don't remember what the first thing is!?

I'd first make sure all the garage doors and windows are closed, then try "B" until you feel better. Then, like you said, get out the touchup paint and start fixing.
It always hurts to put a scratch or ding in your nice car, but eventually we all seem to do it.
You show real class, however, when you can fix it again.

Ok, well i think any normal person would let out a big yell and use lots of choice words that are ok in a cases like this. but hopefully you did save some of that paint so you can fix it. the worst is when you see a chip on your fender that some jack ass person put on it at school by opening their door on it, and even worse you dont know who did it. well anyways good luck!!

remember my New paint??? in 3 mos. i have had a BIG rock hit the front and chip the paint where the fender and extension come together, Dime size. and a shopping cart(with the backet up) soared about 25mph across the parking lot, WHAM dent, then the top came down and hit the rear edge and scratched all the way down to the back bumper. Winn-Dixie has good insurance http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif and so does Tarrant Concrete http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

it's a daily driver so SH$@T happens

I do "B", and yell, and usually end up throwing something if I happen to damage myself, Ie: hit my finger with the hammer. Usually I end up back in the house with a beer or two, and calm down a bit. Then start back at it.Have to watch my words when the boys are seeing what daddy is up to. Nothing like having to explain why daddy is yelling, to a 2 and 5 yr old.
