I am planning to get a cowl induction hood, but am concerned that fumes, odors, etc from the engine compartment may exit the hood and enter the ventilation system through the cowl grille. Is this a problem??I remember a post re; odor problems entering due to poor hood seal.
Also, what fiberglass hood brands do you recommend for a daily street driver - can I still use hood hinge springs?

Simply put, the Cowl Induction works in such a way that the cold dense air that is hitting the windshield is pushed into the channel in the that is sealed against the air cleaner.
I have a CI and haven't noticed any fumes or such. I don't think the very many fumes could escape through the duct anyway, as it is pulling/pushing air down into the engine.
I can't recommend a glass hood, sorry.

I would rocommend Legendary Products for a fiberglass hood, that is where I purchased my 4" cowl from and it looks and fits great and it also can be bolted to the hinges. Just remember to put lighter hood springs on.

Make sure you are using the hood to cowl seals. Their job is to keep engine heat and fumes out of the cowl plenum.

The typical aftermarket cowl induction hood is open at the rear so I am not sure this seal will help. That is the essence of my question.
Does anyone have an aftermarket cowl induction (not the original type) and do you have smell/ fume problems???

Shouldn't be any fumes from the engine compartment if there are no oil leaks and the engine and exhaust system are in good condition.
I wouldn't expect this to be a problem.
