: Engine dressup ideas......
72Elky Aug 15th, 00, 10:01 PM Sorry guys, I've been posting a lot of topics lately because I've been trying to gather as much ideas from fellow Chevelle/El Camino owners for ideas on my engine rebuild and clean up.
Tonight my dad's friend picked up our engine and is taking it to his other friend who rebuilds engines. He's gonna do a full rebuild including dipping the engine.
In the meantime we are restoring the engine compartment. I have some nice Edelbrock valve covers, and a bunch of other chrome bull****, just wondering what else I could put on there to spruce it up?? I think I'm gonna send the headers to Jet-Hot, and maybe even the intake manifold. What do you all think about me painting my cast-iron heads in an aluminum color so that they look like alumunium heads!!!?!? Any other ideas or tips are greatly appreciated!!

66 bowtie Aug 16th, 00, 10:46 AM That engine/ engine bay looks great as is. I figured it would look all full of oil, dirt, wires all over the place, checked the pic and it was great. Mine is the wires all over the place, no oil or dirt tho... l8r

Gandalf80 Aug 16th, 00, 1:47 PM I'm gonna have to agree, I was expecting at least a stock looking engine http://www.chevelles.com/forum/tongue.gif It looks great already!

JWagner Aug 16th, 00, 7:58 PM Steve-O I think that fuzzy thing is called a "boa" but I am not sure if there is one in the correct Chevrolet engine color. I would say that how do your engine is a matter of personal preference. When I get a car, I usually toss all of the chrome gizmos and just go back to stock looking stuff. It seems to me that some like to add a bit of chrome here and there, usually where it is cheap and easy, and it usually shows. So , my advice is to think about what the finished package will look like. Will it look like 2 trips thru Pep Boys or will it look like you really hit it with some thought and coordination? A halfway job always looks weak.

Wes Colby Aug 16th, 00, 8:47 PM Have to agree with everyone here, it looks really nice as it is. You could add one thing though that I see missing...needs a couple of NOS silinoids sticking out from under the carburator - you know, one for fuel and one for the fog! http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Looks like you need to completely start over in there. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/wink.gif Just send that engine to me for the '70 Chevelle SS I just found ($1200 no motor). http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif Looks good enough to drop into anything on the road. Unlesss it's really sick inside I would leave well enough alone.
Wish mine looked 1/2 as good.
Take it easy.

Big Block Dave Aug 17th, 00, 8:33 AM Hey thanks Steve....just read your post there and I loved it...stilletos! nice touch...glad I'm rubbing off on ya!
Personally I'd like to see the motor dressed up like a Thanksgiving turkey, ya know with those little white booty caps that theu put on the ends of the turkey legs? One white booty cap on the oil dipstick and one for the trans dipstick....that would be totally trick! http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif
STEVO-7O Aug 17th, 00, 9:05 AM Dave, you are totally crazy! That cracked me up so bad. No one would ever think of that but you. You are KING!!!!!!! http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif
