: Spark Plug recommendation?

I have a rebuilt 1970 396 with 9:5:1 compression, 290 heads, HEI and a mild cam 221/230 500/510 @50. My question is what type of plug would be recommended for this application? I'm dropping the motor in this weekend and wanted a good baseline to start with. I did read an old post in the archive section that suggested using R43TS's in one side and R44TS's in the other then check the plug readings. Thanks for any suggestions.

I would go with the r43s in a fresh motor, and if it runs without fouling them I would run it 500 miles or so and ckeck how they are burning, then go to the plug with the right heat range you need according to how the 43s read, but remember that at 500 miles the fresh engine is still not broken in yet.just my 1 cents, good luck dropin it in. 67rat member #199 so many things effect the plug burning.
