I have read other posts about placement of exhaust tips. There seems be some differences of opinion, so I will try again. The assembly manual is pretty unclear as to the reference from which to measure, but does have a distance of 2.44 listed for the placement out from the rear. Does anybody have a car that they know has the original resonators and tips right where the factory put them? If your car has had the exhaust changed but you are sure that the placement is correct I would also like your feedback. I know this may be asking a lot, but I want to get it right before I start cutting pipes. I would like to know where these tips should be placed in relation to the outside edge of the valence to the center of the tip and how far should they extend out from the bottom of the valence to the center of the tip? Thanks for helping.

Does anyone know if original style exhaust hangers are available anywhere for the SS tips? If not what have people been able to use that has worked? Thanks Steve.

Still looking for some measurements on how far the tips should extend past the valence. Thanks in advance for helping, Steve.

Our chevelle is a 1970 ss as well. I don't know if the exhaust has been tampered with but I will go measure them. If some one else gets a measurement and they are relatively close then use it.
