I purchased a new air filter and discovered that by the purolator book, the filter I bought is shorter than the one it replaces. It is the open style air cleaner where the filter is exposed all the way around. I think the GM filter is a #212. But, what is the true correct height of the filter supposed to be?
If I use the filter I bought, it's shorter and the lid screw is too long for my Chevy Bowtie nut to screw down on. I guess I could cut the the rod off to make it shorter, but maybe the tall filter I had was right to begin with.
The carb (air filter) plate is sitting on top of an Edl 750. It appears to be original.
