There are a couple of places that advertise in Hemmings. Check them out under the Chevrolet parts section......carburetors

Try Customcarbs.com They're in Ontario, CA. I haven't got my carb yet (been about 2 weeks) but that's who I'm using.

Holley Rebuild Service. They restore all Holley and Rochester carbs. They did a fantastic job on my Holley carb. I can share pictures if you like.

Not only do they rebuild it mechanically, test it on a flow bench and pre-set it so it is ready to run, they also recolor it (replate it) so it looks like a new carb. Their turnaround is pretty good (less than a month).

They are also very helpful over the phone. Search their web site for contact information and details (with pictures) of the process they go through to restore your carb.

Rob, I can't tell you who to use but, having had a really BAD experience with a particular rebuilder/restorer, I CAN tell you who NOT to use. Please feel free to drop me a note if you'd like the information.

Regards,
Dan

I also used Holley to restore my 585 CFM Holley off my 67SS last year at the recommendation of Super Chevy Magazine. I was not aware that they did Rochesters but what I have listed in my planner is Holley Custom Shop 1-888-465-5395. You can call to confirm. Like RichL79 said it is basically a bolt on after they are done with it. I had the complete restore job done which included plating to the original look and the cost was somewhere around 300.00. So as you can see it isn't cheap.
When I got it back and bolted it on, we fired up the 396 and it started leaking around the bowl/fuel line hook up. As it turned out they stripped threads that holds my filter. I removed and called them and they had me return it and they fixed it with basically no questions asked. As it turned out they did the cross threading and stood behind the work. After I received it back, I bolted it up and started the car and it has been trouble free since...knock on wood

I too used Holley to rebuild the carb on a concourse LS-6. Word of caution, I sent all the associated hardware along such as fuel lines, Y-block, accelerator spring, air cleaner hold sown screw, etc. They ALL came back cadmium plated and the unique cowl induction screw was missing. Also the choke cam cam back to me with a green replacement vs white!! Other than that, it turned out perfect! They also did reimburse me for the damaged/lost parts though that took about a month of phone calls. Good vendor.
