just wondering if any hardtop chevelle's were built on convertible frames from the factory, has any one ever heard of this on a chevelle...??,or for that matter 442's or GTO's......i know for a fact that the buick GS's were built on the full perimeter frames from the conv. not sure when they stoped....i know for a fact my 67GS hardtop is on one and it really makes the car a lot stiffer.......

I believe the Z16 was built on a "convertible" frame, thats the only model I know of.

From what I've been able to find out, other cars were available with the "heavy duty" frame, but it was rarely if ever ordered, even on the Police Specials. If I'm not mistaken the RPO for 64 was Z04.
