Is there a difference, (besides part #'s), between big block and small block water pump pulleys. I swapped a 396 in my 70 chevelle and the pulleys for the alternator, crank, and water pump seem to line up.I did put a new big block crank pulley on already.

I also transfered a SB water pump pulley to my 396 and have no problems out of it for the past year or so since I did it.

I'm no expert but they could very well be the same. However, the "High Performance" units (EG - Z/28 & 375hp/396) got the deep groove pulleys, the diameter could have been the same though.
