Snake, not sure what year 'velle you have, but some tall big block covers might interfere with the brake booster.

snake:

The regular problem with the SB chrome covers was they were prone to leaking, primarily due to only four screw downs. For my recent Camaro I went with the GMPP "top of the line" covers with the extra thick flange and never had a leaking problem.

Shouldn't have the same problem with the BB covers due to the extra screw downs. If they are not warped and the chrome is good - go for it - the price is right I think.

Good luck.

......the biggest obstacle most complain about is interference with the brake booster. I personally, run them with the booster and while I have to "weave" the left one on, it's worth it afterwards.

I bought set of cheap chrome covers just so I could paint over them for sort of a stock look. Trans Dapt I think they were called but found out after a while of sitting the inside rusted horribly-letting the flakes become part of the oil system. Maybe just this brand-maybe engine sat too long, but I will select set of aluminum covers for this reason next time. Hope this helps.

Basically,because they look cool http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif
Honestly, unless you have roller rockers and a stud girdle, you really don't need 'em.Even most roller rockers alone will clear stock height covers, and if there is a clearance problem, thicker gaskets usually cures the problem. But like I said, they look cool.Nothing like a BBC with a high rise aluminum intake,JetHot coated headers, and a nice pair of tall covers http://www.chevelles.com/forum/wink.gif

to correct the flaking of the chrom on the inside, just have them blasted down to metal and throw some high temp paint on the inside or leave them raw.

The absolute coolest........those cast alum. ones from GMPP w/Chevrolet on top that you have to drill for oil fill and pcv. AWESOME!!!

I also like the look of the tall covers and use them even on stock setups. Just a word of caution, avoid the really cheap, off-shore stuff. I inherited one set on a motor purchase and they actually had bumps you could feel on the outside surface of the cover where the arms had been rubbing them! Some of "bumps" were actually weeping oil they had worn that thin. When I took them off, you couldn't really tell there would be an interference problem unless you looked carefully... caveat emptor!
