I have a question about my 68 Chevelle. It has a factory tach that redlines at 5000.I know its not an SS as SS's have 7000 redlines and I have also traced my V.I.N. The car has a 327, factory buckets, console, full guages etc. I am wondering if this is rare as I have never seen another like it.Any information would be great! Thanks everyone.

My tach on my '68 SS starts to redline at 5500, and continues to 7000. Does it have the SS hood and badges? If the VIN doesn't begin with 138, then it is not a true SS. I have seen other 68's with 327's, but not with all of the other stuff that you have.

Thanks for the information. My VIN starts 13637, so I know its not an SS.It doesnt have the SS hood or any SS badges either. I am trying to find out if this is a rare car or not. Thanks again for all the info!

I had a 68 malibu about 20 years ago
that was a 327 4 speed bench seat
car with a 12 bolt. It had the factory
tach and guage package also.
It had manual steering and manual
drum brakes.
