GHi i just got a 72 chevelle that i cant get the retracting seatbelts out of i have bent or stripped 4 torx. am i using the right tool? (a 50 Torx) i need to get these out so i can install my new carpet kit. Also i cant seem to get the hood to line up right. It will line up even at the sides,But then it sits forward at the left front and sit back on the right hand side where the hood meets the headlight holders. any help would be great. thanx dave

Sorry i forgot to mention it is a cowl hood replacing a non cowl hood.

Dave,
Get a good torx socket first, Snap On will do the trick. Then get an impact gun, that is the only way I have managed to get them out. One of those hand held impact drivers that you hit with a hammer might work also but I have never tried one. I have learned over the years that you get what you pay for with tools and the cheaper stuff shows its limitations when you start trying to get 30 year old bolts loose http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif
As far as the hood goes, is it a GM hood or a reproduction ? I have heard horror stories about the fit of some of the cheaper repro stuff. If it is GM and your original hood fit ok, you should not be having a problem, unless the car was in an accident sometime in its life and the body shop "tweaked" some parts to get them to fit.

I have the same hood problem but i bought it used and didn't line it up when we bought it, (just threw it on to get it home) now that it's painted it doesn't look like it will ever line up right but S--t happens and im not that picky (well maybe i am but i can live with it until i can buy a Good cowl hood and also have the $ to paint it to match) it's still looks better than that flat hood. especially with the stripes http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif
