I just purchased a '71 SS454 car with original 454 with 50,000 original miles. I'm going to go thru the engine; keeping the original pistons. I have the 820 heads that came with the car. I also have a set of 063 heads. I have read that the stock engine has either 8.5 or 9.0 compression ration with the 820's. What would the compression ration be with the 063's? I'm not overly-concerned with horspower and plan to run the stock exhaust manifolds. Which heads should I run to have good conservative street combo. This is a 4-speed car with 3:31 rear, no AC. Any other advice such as cam selection would be appreciated. I guess I should add that the car has cowl induction, so I plan on running the stock intake. Thanks!

You will be right around 9.0 to 1 or so with 063's
Your actual compression ratio with the 820's is about 8.0 to 1
I would run a Crane 272H Energizer..good choice with mild compression and exhaust manifolds.
