Finally got the car rolling. The engine ran very nice for about two weeks. It's been stored for about two years prior and I have limited knowledge of it's history other than it's a 1970 300hp 350 with 4bbl Rochester (seemingly very much original state).

This morning it developed a moderate knocking sound under the valve cover. It still runs smooth but what are we looking at? could it be a stuck lifter (I believe they are originally hydraulic) or could it be something loose under the valve cover. Or am I looking at a huge rebuild project?

Your educated guesses are appreciated.

Thanks

I would pull the valve covers off and inspect the rockers and push rods, then adjust the valves. The Tech archive has a great prodcedure for doing this. Probably just something loose in the valvetrain. If there were any stuck valves or lifters the engine would run rough probably.
