I found two nice writeups about how bad some of the new blue bulbs are. The first one explains the physics. http://lighting.mbz.org/tech/info/blue_bulbs/

the second one has actual test data http://www.overboost.com/story.asp?id=102

I think I'll stay with my big round seal beams!

Thanks for the data. Since I first saw the blue lights on an oncoming car, I've said they were dangerous because of the glare they produce. This coupled with the fact that they draw my attention away from the rest of my visual field (I have to make a conscious effort not to look at them), tends to increase the danger.

I'm sure that the main reason most people are using these bulbs is because of the attention. The same reason they have the ultra loud bass booming in their rides. It has nothing to do with increased quality, but rather a perception of being "cool".

Thanks for the data. Now I have some test data (albeit possibly subjective) to back up my convictions.

Yeh, blue dots are illegal so these things should be too!

Just my pennies...
