i obtained a bench for my 70 chevelle which the guy before i went to see it said it was original, it wasn't, but the foam and springs were really good so for 50.00 i said what the heck, the question, the lever for the seat back is down on the left bottom side of the seat back is this correct for a 70 chevelle? if so i'm going to throw a 70 cover on it, thanks Steve

This is correct for the driver's side. The lever on the passenger's side is on the lower right.

Make sure the drivers side support spring is in good shape. I had to salvage a 70 bench seat to redo the springs in my 70 when I recovered them.

Another tip, replace the burlap that goes between the seat springs and the foam. I got some nice burlap from Wal-Mart. This keeps the springs from destroying the cotton padding.
