My buddy has just installed a tpi in his elcamino. He got a painless wiring harness, and new computer with it. We can not get it to hit. You can prime it and start it. There is the required pressure in the rails, it has fire to the injectors, but using a test light it doesnt appear to be breaking the fire to let the injectors pulse. Any tips will be appreciated.

When you say you got a new computer, did you get one that doesn't have VATS on the chip? Does the car start then shut off? Do you have the oil pressure sense line connected? Stock ECM primes the rails, then when the engine starts, the oil pressure switch keeps the pump on. Just a few thoughts.

Steve,
The car dies very quickly after it starts, just runs long enough to burn the gas that was primed with. Not sure about the chip, I do know that he ordered a new one from jegs because of a security code?? Not sure on that one. But we cant get the car to start on its own b/c no fuel is getting past the injectors.

How is your fuel pump wired? Does the pump keep running after startup? Do you have a solenoid tester? Actron makes a cheap injector/harness tester, available at most parts stores for about 40 bucks. If the injectors themselves stop working after startup, but work during cranking, and don't seem stuck open(flooding)I would suspect the ECM. If VATS was enabled, I don't think it would start at all. If the injectors are still pulsing, then maybe focus on the ignition.
