I have a '67 Chevelle 4 door 300 Deluxe. It has a bench seat without headrests. I would like to install a seat with headrests in the car. From what I understand, headrests were an option that year for either bench or bucket seats. I'm having a hard time finding a seat from that year with headrests. Does anyone know what year models of General Motors cars would have seats that would fit right in with little or no alteration? I've heard that Chevelles, Novas, Malibus and some Pontiac models up through 1972 should work. Can someone shed some light on this for me?
Thanks,
Larry

Good luck trying to find some originals. In '67 they were an option, so not many of them are around. In 15 years of going to swap meets and wrecking yards, I've only seen one pair of buckets with headrests. They needed to be re-done and the guy would not sale them to me even after offering him $300.
Larry, Since you have a bench seat in the car now, the easiest swap would be another bench seat. There should be no problem installing a bench seat from any GM A body car from '69-'72(I once installed a power bench seat from a '69 Cadillac-a behemoth!-in a '69 2dr. Chevelle, but I certainly wouldn't reccommend you try that)and all will have headrests. Bucket seats can be done also, but you will have to weld in the seat brackets available from Year One (and others) since you will be bolting in two more tracks.

Thanks for the responses! I'm not necessarily going for original. I'm just looking for a bench seat with headrests for this low miles(36k original) 4 door. I'm fixing it up for my kids to drive. Do you know anything about putting shoulder harnesses in it?
Larry, I have a 67 ELKY, and inside I replaced the stock bench (which was beat to hell) with a 69 Nova bench with headrests. It lined up the holes and everything. Lucky guess, it was an old friends from his junker. But good luck. Just my .02 worth
