Like I need another project!!! But I came across another Chevelle and I need some help determining it's value:
69 SS Chevelle, 4 spd., buckets, console (all there YIPPEE!), factory gauges including tach, 12 bolt (unknown tranny and gears), BC/CC paint that is 12 years old and CC peeling badly, some surface rust (minimal), pass. quarter hit (large dent at wheel lip), supposedly new quarters installed 12 yrs ago, non-air, disk brakes, interior needs work but no tears in seats, carpet shot, dashpad shot, very dirty...car is running but prob. not road worthy (sitting for years), not original motor (350 now)....what is the max you pay for this car? Thanks. PS- don't tell my wife!!!!

I dont think i'd spend more than $3500 for it. But that's with out seeing it. Iv'e seen some real rat boxes out there and guys were asking 6 or 7000 for them. Look it over good, see what's missing and what's all there.
Sounds like you could even get it for less. what are they asking?

i agree with L89SEDAN.
if there is little rust that is real real good. and if frame is straight exellant i say go for it if you want another project car

Depends on the rust factor. I would say 3,000 dollars is within reason. But if the rust ain't too bad I would say 3500-4000. Sounds like it has the right stuff you want in a 69 though.

Thanks for the replies...the car is 6 hours from my home and belongs to my brother-in-law's mother. I have not seen it in person. She sent a few pictures and it is hard to tell true condition. I think she is asking 3500 but my first thought was to pay around 2500. Sounds like maybe 3000 would be a fair price. My last 69 SS Chevelle I paid 1700 and it was solid but a bucket of bolts. This car is all together and running but the true unknown is the condition of the quarters....

I have a bias against cars that were driven in road salt, and the replacement small block is a drawback, too. Is it a real SS, and/or does it have paperwork? It may not be worth sticking $$ into to restore it. Last time I checked, GM quarters and fenders were still available for 69, but they'll set you back around $2000 list price. Its your call. Good luck!
