It's been awhile since I've really spun wrenches, so bear with me .....

Pulled the 'Velle out of current storage in an emergency on Wednesday. Will be moving her to a new storage shed (old car shed) about 75 yards away. She'd been sitting for awhile and was stubborn, but started. Idle speed is way too high, can tell even without a tach. When I tried to put the transmission into Drive, she would stall, even after letting the car run for 20 minutes graemlins/angry.gif . Had to, basically, do a brake stand just to get backed out of the shed. I know there are quite a few tuning issues to smooth out, but where should I start? I haven't been able to work on her for 10 years (last time I drove the car was 4 years ago), started a few times in between. Coincidentally, I've been married for just about 10 years

Could be a vacuum leak. That would cause it to idle high, then when it went in gear it could cause it to stall. I spent a fair amount of time chasing one before. Check your PVC, PB, or other vacuum lines. Some critters may have been feasting on them while the car was being stored.

My guess would be stale gas, and a gummed up carb.

Second the stale gas, and maybe a dried out carb. The internal gaskets could've shrunk up and be causing metering problems. It doesn't take long for the fuel in the bowls to evaporate.

If all else fails, disconnect and plug the vacuum advance hose to the dist. Then reset your idle speed in park. It should then be OK when dropped into gear if fully warmed up and the choke is off.
