When I yank the dipstick on my TH400 while its idling, in neutral, I get a bubbly covering an inch or so up the stick's "full" level. I never get a good, crisp reading of pure liquid coating. Is the fluid splashing up on the stick, or is it too full and getting aerated?
When it is hot but the engine is shut off, the fluid goes to just a tiny bit above where the stick spits and re-joins making that little window.
How do I accurately determine if the trans has the right amount?
