Hey guys, as the 402 draws to a close here within the next couple of weeks i am getting all the final stuff setup and need to get an oil pan and i would like to get a windage tray. I have been looking at the milodon street/strip pans with their diamond stripper windage tray. Would this be an adequate setup. I don't plan on spinning it past 6500 rpms. This whole motor has been based on the budget quality theory. Find the best part that is quality and is plenty adequate for the job, but doesn't cost an arm and a leg. What are you guys running or what would you recommend. Thanks

Daniel

If you don't plan on spinning it,just stick with a stock or stock replacement pan.I run a Milodon stock replacement with a Clevite standard volume oil pump....40 lbs. @ idle/60 @ 5500 rpms..over 5K miles (some strip) and NO problems. The factory system works best with stock or mildly modified motors.Save your money.JMHO

Danielle,

Milodon is my preference for oil pans, too. One thing to remember when purchasing an oil pan for a Chevelle: Make sure that it is specifically for a Chevelle. Chevelles typically use a shorter (longitudially) sump than other body styles and you may have problems with interference at the crossmember.

Bill is right on as usual ( and THNX Bill for that excellent lesson on "PC type" seals)...I use the Moroso 6qt, filled with 5 no windage tray. Nice pan, but whoa, its a showhorn clearing the fatty crossmember on a 67.

Daniel, I have a stock "3 step" BBC pan I got off Ebay for $22. Decent shape and $20 Shipped if you want it.

Thanks Gene, I appreciate that.

Daniel, sorry about misspelling your name in that earlier post. Believe me, it was not intentional. Must have had my mind on something else, like a pretty, petite blonde on a beach, with a Margurita in her hand . . . . . OK, now back to reality. Hey, it has been COLD here in Michigan.

LOL, engineguy, the first time i read that i was like, "WHAT THE HECK". I have always hated that for some reason, and to make it worse my brothers new girlfriend is named Danielle, i just can't get away from it.

Ok, that gives me a good idea of what to look for, i will shop around some more tonight.
