I need info on how to remove Lucas oil treatment from my engine. After installing a new one piece oil pan gasket a few months ago along with some other suspension changes I'm finally able to drive my chevelle. During warmups I've been noticing a little smoke while the car idles that wasn't there before the gasket change and the addition of Lucas oil treatment. I've drained and refilled the oil and tonight while driving I noticed that the oil pressure guarge fell to less then 5lbs. It increased slightly while I was driving it back home. I'm not going to start the car until I get the flushed from my engine.

I've never seen that stuff lower oil pressure. Only increase, due to it's honey like substance.
Run some ATF in the crankcase or better yet BG Products has some quick clean for engines that works pretty good. Maybe the cork from the old pan gasket is plugging up the oil pump pickup sceen.

..the Lucas Oil treatment isn't the issue..sounds like you have other problems (bearings, oil pump, etc.)

2k,
Chris is correct ... the problem is not the oil treatment. Personally, I would not run the engine again without finding out what the problem is, there is too much risk of completely destroying it. One thing not mentioned is the possibility that your gauge has failed ?? I would use a preoiling tool to spin the oil pump and see what type of pressure it shows, then .. get a known good mechanical gauge and hook it up, spin the pump again and see if it is any different. If it is still low, its time to at least pull the pan and see what is wrong.

I honestly feel that Lucas oil treatment was the ONLY reason the cam lasted as long as it did in the last engine. Had I not used it I believe the cam would have wiped much sooner. It lasted 1 year, instead of probably more like 1 month.

Just change the oil, drive car, and repeat if it makes you feel better, it'll drain out, ;) .

Thanks for the info guys. I'll try everything that was suggested in a logical order and post the results. I sincerely hope it's a bad guage or connection.
By the way the guage is only 6 weeks old but the connection may be at fault.

Is the gauge electric or mechanical? Electric gauges can have a lot more problems than mechanical ones.

The guage is mechanical. After the car sat for a while it started and the pressure was 50+. Maybe I have something blocking the pump screen. :(
