: FACTORY CLOCK SAVER

I just installed an NOS clock in the 70 conv. Instead of connecting it to a terminal on the fuse block that is hot full time, I connected it to an ignition terminal. Therefore, it only runs when the ignition is on. Yes, I have to set it everytime I get into the car. But if your cars are like mine, they only get out once in a while. This way the clock is not running ALL the time and wearing out. I don't mind setting it once in a while so that it will last for a long time.

I would also recommend installing a 1 amp or so (the smaller the better) fast blow fuse in-line with the orange (+) supply lead to the clock to protect the fragile rewind coil from surges.

When I rebuilt a '70 clock, I installed a diode across the coil to help reduce the electrical arcing, thus making the contacts last longer.

Why didn't I think of that!!! I've been pulling the fuse out each time, otherwise the battery goes down in three or four days. It's always the easy stuff that you miss. Way to go DZ!
