I am going to replace my 1986 El Camino 4.3L
motor with a new one(the old one is 150,000 Mi.tired). I would like get some feedback on a diffrent cam(what size)or if I should keep a stock cam in it. I tow a boat(3,000Lbs.), the transmission is an automatic. I would also like to the best M.P.G. that I can as I also do a lot of Hwy. driving.
Thanks Dave

Dave,
I would stick with a mild, torque and towing type cam. Not much over stock. If you have some time, one of my employees is doing a 4.3 for his 89 S10 truck and he is going to try a marine cam in it just for grins. We put a bunch of cams into our Engine Analizer software and it was the one that looked the best. He should be putting the motor together in the next few weeks and installing it shortly thereafter so keep in touch and I will let you know how it runs.
