I bought some semi flat black to paint the rear panel on a 69 SS chevelle but it does not look right. Does anyone know of the right paint to use for this? thank you

Let me guess is it all checked up which looks likes millions of little cracks. Maybe it looks like a white tint to it. I know that panel is hard to paint. The last time I had to strip it down and then sanded it smooth almost and primered it twice and then sprayed on the Semi-flat black. If that panel is not straight never never paint it Gloss Black.

I would also like the color code or something to Identify I had my SS Camaro done but I doubt the guy who did would remeber MIKE

I'm going to use the same thing I used on my firewall and inner fenders with good results. Dupont Centari, Pitch Black with about 15% flattener (by volume) added. Thinned about 35%. This gives a good semi-gloss finish. If durability is a concern, a hardener is available. von
