how hard is it to install shims in a starter. Also I want to know if that is my problem becaus my starter gear is hitting the flywheel once the engine is running and makes a squelling sound. Any help would be great.

easy - 2 bolts.

dont let the starter drop on you though - it hurts.

there's a deminsion you can check to see if the gears are macthing. i checked mine but don't remember the number. your repair manual should have it.
