how can you tell on BBC if the crank is cast or steel and any other vital info ... this is a stock 402 crank .. so i think anyway

There should be a parting line, where the two halves of the mold or die go together. If this line is real thin, its a cast crank, but if the parting line is about 1/2 inch or so, its forged steel crank. Just look on the unmachined surface, especially next to the rod journals.
