From the top of the gas line filter on my '69 396 there is a vent tube or whatever with a small 1/4 inch line that parallels down to the fuel pump and then angles toward the frame, actually right beside the fuel pump but pointing in direction of frame. Understand it should go back to fuel tank, however, there is no line to connect to and nothing from the fuel tank other than the main fuel line. Any recommendations? Can the line be capped off without any adverse affects? Will appreciate your thoughts, comments and recommendations. Thanks....

The '69s with the 1/4" return connected to a 1/4" hose connection on the fuel tank pickup, just parrallel to the 3/8" fuel line. Your sended in probably a replacment type without the vapor return.

You pulled the tank down? This is the same problem I had when finishing mine.Ended up getting the correct sending unit with the 2 lines. It will help to keep fresh cool fuel to your carb, unless you keep it WIDE OPEN all the time!! Mike

Thanks for responses. I am going to put in a 1/4 inch line from fuel filter back to fuel tank. In looking at the tank there are two flexible vent lines that come out of the top right side of the tank and turn up about 8", one is a 3/8 and the other a 1/4 inch line. Both lines are open. Is it okay to attach the vent line from the fuel filter to the 1/4 inch line? Is this the correct way to do it. The 1/4 inch line is open and would vent into the fuel tank. What do you think? Thanks for your thoughts and response....

the quarter inch line goes right next to the 3\8" line in the same piece the sender is part of on top of the tank
don't use those vents on top
when it comes to gas do it the correct way

John, those are the real vent lines and should have a plastic breather on them, I could send a pic. The return line goes on top of tank to a 1/4 line coming out of the sending unit, you need to pull the tank down for this. Mike

Thanks again guys....I do want to get it right so I will be dropping the tank to see what we have on the sending unit. Have the 1/4 inch line ordered and plan to work on this week....it's all that's between me and getting the 'Velle on the road, at least I hope so. Thanks again for the quick response and information.
