at the track i started off good with a strong shortshifted pass of 14.3, any way, on my last run, something wasn't right. i put the pedal down and it just wasn't pulling like it should. so i coasted to a 16.8,(still faster than most of the imports present) and i realized that as hard as i pushed, i was going nowhere! i look and my throttle linkage broke. i managed to rig it with some string and a little luck to get home, but now i need to fix it. i want a cable hookup because that seems better, so how do i go about doing this. my dad has a 70 corvette and i was looking at that. can i borrow that pedal and cable? or what else can i get it from? i guess i need pedal to car because it snapped right at the press in part at the end of the pedal. please help.

Is this a 64?? I guess you could make a new rod or find a donor car to borrow the cable set up from.
I'm leaning towards a set up from another GM car. A 68 Camaro set up looks like it may be close to a bolt in. The pedal pivot mounts to the body in the same place as the Chevelle and the cable is run thru the firewall and fastened on the engine side with a sheetmetal screw.
You can also get a Lokar conversion from Summit. If you have to buy the GM parts new to convert the Lokar will wind up being cheaper. The black cable kit is $26, and steel braid runs $32.

Why not just go out to a yard and get a replacement for what you now have?? Or , could you order new parts?

JW, That would be ideal. I have been looking for a throttle rod for my 64 and have not found one yet. If any of you have one you want to sell pprince and I need them, get him his first, I'm still in the process of converting to a V-8 from a six.
