I have a pitted windshield and it lots bad when I am driving it, cause I can see all the little pits in the glass. Is the only answer to this to get a new windshield? I would imagine that is expensive. Does anyone know about how much? or can I fix 'em some how without getting a replacement.

Luke Duke,

Please supply the year of your car when asking for informaion. Windshields for the 70 - 72 models are available from any windshield glass place. Just check your yellow pages under auto glass. The price is very reasonable. Expect to pay between $125 - $150 installed.

Shop around for price and experience on your year car. Many places can get you the glass but have no experience with older cars. The correct way to install the glass is different today than it was 30 years ago.

Luke: Spend the money for a new glass. When
you drive your vision will be so clear you'll
think you have a new car.A good investment!!

New looks good from the outside too. Cost per Sq. in. of improvement is tolarable.

We had a nearly 300k mile pickup in which we got the windshield changed before selling it. It was so fine I almost kept it!!! You just can't imagine how different it will be. Do it!

Luke,

I am just south of you in Albany/Lebanon area. 3 years ago when my car was being painted I had to replace my windshield in my 68. It ran I believe $105 without install. The bodyman installed but then I had the glass guy(he went to school with my brother) from the glass place double check just to be sure. The place Smith Glass I believe does work in Salem too. Replacing it is the way 2 go!

Go with the new . they are cheap enough and will make the car look a whole lot better.

What if you still have the *original* windshield in your car (with the correct markings) and you just have a few small pits to take care of. Is there anything that works ?

the eastwood co. makes a kit to remove those ugly wiper marks, don't know about pits, would probably work on fine pits, a friend used the kit on a 37 chev. the windshield turned out so good he polished all the windows with it.www.eastwoodco.com
