Does anyone know what type (i.e. laquer, enamel, single stage or 2 stage etc ) of
paint would have been on a 72 Chevelle Malibu. (mfg. at Baltimore plant, January 13,
1972, color code 50B-covert tan.).
I'm starting the body work. The car is garaged and driven every now and again. I'm
not looking for a "show car" megabucks paint job- I just want to stay as close to
original as possible.
-Also, what does "original paint" actually mean at car shows? I went to a few and
several cars said "original paint" but were the original color repainted. Just curious.
-How well does the "paintles" dent repair work on cars made of real metal? A "lady", and I use the term loosely, put a series of 6 quarter sized dings in the rear quarter panel while pulling into the space next to me and then left the scene. I'm trying not to bondo if possible.
Finally, if anyone knows of a good brand and process to use that is like the original I'd appreciate some direction. The 2 brands here seem to be Sherwin Williams and DuPont. We have several vehicles to practice on...
Thanks for the help.
