Howdy again, we finally got done with moving everyone in my family (3 households, including mine) so it's back to playing with my fathers '65 chevelle.

I'm went to the junkyard today and picked up a ps pump from a 71 ($15). But I believe that one has the "long" water pump. The '65 327 is still a "short".

I could convert the '65 to a long water pump, and get the pullies off the 71.

But, I curious what an original '65 ps pump brackets look like? Would anyone care to describe them or post a pic?

Thanks for your time.

Ok, after searching around the web, The original ps pump had a remote tank, Correct?

If that's true, I'm going to use this '71 pump and a long water pump.

Is there anything else I need besides pullies (will the '65 harmonic balancer work)?

Also, what should I do with the alt? We are using the original '65 327 heads, and they don't have the taped holes on the front of the head. It has headers, so there is a bracket on the exaust bolts, and the alt is on the drivers side.

I'm sorry for all the questions, I don't know much about early stuff, but I'm learning.

You have to put the alt. on the other side, as it will not clear the 71 pump. You will have to find pulleys as your old ones will not work. The bal. should be ok. You can find the right setup easy enough if you dont want to go through all that. If you want to see a pic.of the 65 pump, I think Ground Up has one in their catalog.

The remote tank was a Z16 (big block) thing only in 1965 I believe. The small blocks would have used the standard ps pump with the intergral tank and filler neck. The mounting bracket for all small blocks were the same except for those used on the L79 which were slightly different since the L79 used a larger 8-inch balancer.

Thanks for the input. I did find several websites with brackets to do exactly what I want. But, I'm use to making things (other toy is a 68 Jeepster, there are NO aftermarket toys).

Thanks again.
