I saw this in the summit or Jegs catalog and it was only $15. Are these fans any good?

Absolutely no Flex Fan is any good... Ask my son in law who almost bled to death with a piece of one lodged in his leg.

To get a good installation of a flex fan one needs to test it for the resonances that cause them to fly apart at speed. Even Ford Motor had problems doing that. the eonly flex fan i would use is the correct one from GM with all of the correct pulleys, etc.

I had one of these trick fiberglass fans launch a blade through the hood of a pickup I was working on. One minute earlier I had been leaning over it....

Josh,
My brother owns a radiator shop and tells me that he has seen too many flex fans come apart. Don't risk it!

NO PLASTICS!!!!!!!! EVER!!!!!!!

I use an aluminum one that is exactly the same, save diameter, as the one on my brothers 84 RX7. He routinely takes the motor in that thing beyond the red and into the 10k range. The fan is great as far as I am concerned. This is the only style of flex I will ever use. I would NEVER recommend a plastic unit.
My advice:
Be extremely careful when torqueing down the bolts to install it.
Every time you open the hood, inspect it for any looseness at all(rivets in frame, one blade flexes more than others, etc.). (motor off, duh)
NEVER exceed the rpm limit on the fan.
If possible, get it spin blanced by a motor shop.

Remember that any motor accessory not installed correctly has the potential to take your life. Be smart.
