Did the dash face(underneath the dash pad) come w/ chrome outlining the instruments gausges and around the edges? Or is it just paint? Thanks
Jon

when the dash is made the whole dash gets chromed then the black is detailed on.
when the chrome wears away it looks like
silver paint.to answer your question it is real chrome not paint. if you want it to look
original you haved to have it rechromed by
a pro. a very hard job.

Jon,
There's a place here in Michigan that redoes the dash bezels. They're called Michigan Plastic Chrome. The owners name is Rod, he's got ad's on the Team Chevelle parts for sale site, just look around. I talked to him on the phone once. He told me the complete process is: 1) strip the bezel 2) rechrome the bezel 3) detail (paint) the bezel. He said this is a very involved process and takes approximately 4-5 weeks to do correctly, and cost about $250.00 to redo your bezel, or about $350.00 to buy one out right from him. Or you can do like I did, repaint your bezel, you'll want to use semi-gloss paint, then get one of those silver paint pencils and just "pencil" in the places it's suppose to be chrome. I did this to my bezel, and you really have to look twice to tell it's not original, and it only cost about $8.00 to do!

I just finished my bezel using the silver-chrome paint marker. It worked great. Then I cleared it all. I cant wait until the car is done and running. Thanks Droptop

I tried the silver paint markers and I think it looks better BUT it still looks like silver not chrome!! Maybe the clear is the answer??? I may try that.It certainly cheaper than having it rechromed and easier.Rick

I've used the silver markers and chrome spray paint. the chrome spray paint method really looks good, but masking takes a while. the best way to mask is to use a stuff called "Liquid Mask" which you can pick up in a model hobby shop. You can apply this stuff over the whole dash or edges and then use a razor blade to make a definite line and then remove the liquid mask in the areas that need to be painted. After it is all dry, just peel the rest of the masking off. the stuff comes off easy, kind of like peeling off low adhesive tape. the benefit of this stuff is that it gets in the grain, so none of your paint bleeds under your masking.
