In a couple weeks I want to go to a club race at a strip some 125 miles from home. I have 4.56 gears with 275/60/15 Drag Radials. Anyone have any idea how large a diameter tire will fit on the rear of a 67 EC? I'm not concerned about looks just getting some relief from driving 50mph or running the engine at 3600 rpm@65mph. Tall skinny truck tires are fine, anything TALL. We're talking Large Diameter here.

I don't know if they would fit, but monster truck tires would certainly lower your rpms.

Pat, you run the same tire as me, they're 28" tall ( mine actually measure 27.75")and 9.5 wide. Might I suggest you dial up the BFG website, www.bfgoodrichtires.com (http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com) as long as you have Acrobat reader, you can look at all the tire specs. Judging by my'67 Velle, you could probably get away with 32", but you have to stay much narrower beacuse of the wheelwell curving in towards the top. At the BFG site you can determine the tire size you're looking for and then scrounge around for a pair.

Hey Pat-
Over at Tucker Tire(in Covina, on Azusa Ave. just off of the 210) they have some TALL tires on the used rack. I was over there yesterday pricing out wheels, and they had 2 195-70-15's out on the used rack pretty worn out but still some tread for 10 bucks a pop, you have to hurry to get them, some person may go over there and say cheap tires! I'll buy em'.
