: A few vacuum questions...

I'm installing a Q-jet from a '77 car on my '71. I know where the PCV and charcoal canister lines hook to on the carb, but otherwise, does it actually matter where you plug vacuum lines to on the carb? Aren't they all sucking an equal amount of vacuum and will work as long as you have what you need hooked up? I need to hook up to the carb: my distributor, two vacuum pods on the carb, PCV, charcoal canister line, and I think there are two left I may need to plug. If anyone can confirm what I'm thinking or can think of anything I'm going to miss, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Here is the carb number:
17057235
1757

One problem, I've tried to decode and if the carb ends in an odd number, isn't that a manual transmission carb? It came off an automatic car I believe, though. Any problems in running this or do I just need to make a slot for the kickdown cable? Thanks.

Anyone care to take a stab at this? I think I can figure out vacuum hoses now, but my main concern is the difference between carbs on manual trannies and auto. Is the only difference something for the kickdown cable?

Even if the carb is originally for a manual trans i believe it will work fine for your application. Sounds like it already has the provisions for a kickdown so thats all you need to worry about. Bolt it on and run it.

Dont hold me to this but i believe the vac line for the distributer is on the front pass side.
Just get a vac gauge and at idle (700-750)rpm you should not have any/slight vac to the dist and the other side (drivers) will have vac.
Remember the backside vac port (block off) on the rear of the carb.
