You can't forget about fuel being used to dissolve the hard candy coating, and that would be saliva in this case. As with any fuel, more power can be achieved when you mix in a percentage of alcohol. I'd say, for your average Tootsie Pop, a blend of 20% tequilla....er...I mean alcohol, will rapidly increase the melt rate of the hard candy shell.

This of course, will require some experimentation.

can one impart "English" to this endeavour with ones tongue? I have heard that a "twisting" action is quite desired. Naturally "swiping" the tongue across the object sort of "back and forth" also produces the desired result. Ah yes.....tootsie rolls. Delicious too!
