Tried shimming old starter (3 month old) NO change in sound. Took it back (lifetime warranty) they checked it, drawing too many amps. Get another. Put it on, not as bad but noisy. Shim it 1/32" , got worse. Offset shimmed it closer to flywheel 1/32" on outer bolt. better. 1/16" on outer bolt. Sounds JUST like it did before all the trouble.

STILL have no idea what changed? But it's OK now!

Well it would be a LOT more fun with an overhead lift... it is only a little fun running elbows into things while on my back.
