I havn't gotten my car road worthy yet but for an exhaust system i am running headers strait to cherry bombs because i just needed a cheap quiet for the time being but anyways I am in Ontario, Canada and they are/have decided on emission testing and i don't know if i will need a cataletic converter? i have heard they go by how the car originally came and someone said they all have to be the same so i was wondering what does the law say in the states? maybe it will be the same somewhat. i guess i should call a muffler shop.

I'm not sure of Canada, but here in the States, the only requirements for exhaust is that it has all of the origonal emissions components which for your car would be a muffler. Now, if you want a cheap "quiet" exhaust, cherry bombs are definetly NOT the way to go. Cherry bombs are a good reason for cops to pass out tickets. I wouldn't use em. Way too loud.

In Ontario, there are no emission tests for vehicles over 25 years old. You do not need to test your vehicle at all in order to re - register it. In any case, you would only have to comply with the requirements in force for the year your car was built - in 1966 this was only a PCV system. You could get a ticket from the OPP if you remove the PCV system - why anyone would want to do this is beyond me anyway. There are noise requirements but I don't remember the exact specifications, but they aren't too exacting. So relax.

Hope this helps
