I've been thinking about getting it, but I don't have a clue about how I would even start to build up a motor http://www.chevelles.com/forum/redface.gif I've rebuilt motors in the past but never have I had to figure out what heads, pistons, valves etc... Would I be able to figure out what kind of mill I would be building if I was to just start with my 396 and this program or do I need to know all the spec's on every thing going in there??
Thanks for any help
Tom

you pick the basic engine off a dropdown chart, and go from there, bore, stroke, cylinders, induction, carb size. All the major things have a drop down menu. You an go into the cam profile off the legend at the top,and change lift, duration, LC, and all the important things, I just started playing with this thing today, and you can get all kinds of combinations. I'm glad I bought one! http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Cool I was hoping it would do it that way http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif
I'll have to get it and start figuring out what setup I'll be looking for.
Thanks Doug

hi tom, i used the desk top dyno when it was still a free download, unfortunately my drive took a dump and i lost it, damn. anyway it's a neat program you can punch up just about any combination get a read out then change the combination and try again. it does give recommendations at the end of the run. good luck on your engine. john
