I am debating the purchase of a 87 Iroc 350 engine. I am not using the TPI, but want to mount my original carb and intake on it. My question is: it originally had a electric fuel pump, can I unblot the block off plate and bolt a mechanical fuel pump to this engine?? I know it is a roller motor, but are the provision for the mechanical pump still there??

The block casting number is: 14093638

Thanks a bunch!!

Tom,
If there is a block off plate, then the hole is drilled for the fuel pump pushrod and you can mount a fuel pump and go for it. One thing you will have to do is get an intake that has the center bolt holes drilled at the correct angle for the tpi heads. You can also "modify" the center 4 holes in your carbureted manifold to make it work. I did the same swap in my 85 Blazer and it worked fine. Also kep in mind that the 87 engine has a 1 pc rear main seal crankshaft and requires a special flywheel that has a weight on it. Its no problem to find one.

Heads are no problem as the originals have been swapped out for some worked World Products S/R Torquers. It is coming with the flywheel, so we are OK there too, just a little concerned about the fuel pump deal.

So there is no problem with the roller cam?? It has a ZZ4 cam in it. I was hoping it was compatible..

Thanks again
