I got a BB 67 chevelle ss. I want to instal a kickdown switch and need to know the best way to go about it. I know you can mount it either at the carb or on the floor behind the pedal but Im not too sure how to wire it.Someone told me that you have to run it to the fuse box and also to the trans electrical connection. Not very good with electrical work, so any help in terms of pictures or literature would be greatly appreciated.

The switch should have two terminals on it. The switch shold be mounted so that the switch is closed only at full throttle. It doesn't matter which terminal on the switch you use. Run a wire from a fused +12V source to one terminal on the switch. Run a second wire from the other terminal on the swicth to the tranny. The switch is open (no voltage going to the tranny) during normal driving conditions, and closed (12v to the tranny) under full throttle conditions. I beleive the factory color code for this wire was orange.

B&M makes a switch kit for this that simplifies the whole deal. The switch mounts on a TH350 kickdown cable bracket and has a short rod that runs forward to the carb. If you didn't look close you'd think it was a TH350 kickdown cable but it's actually an electrical switch for a TH400. Slick deal. I saw them the other day at Lopers in Phoenix.
