I am converting my bench seat car to buckets and console in my 71 malibu and I am having trouble with the wiring. I bought a new console harness and new console extension harness. I am leaving my neutral safety switch on the column so I don't have to worry about those connections on the console harness. But, I was under the impression that there would be a connector in the dash harness to hook the console extension harness to that would power the lights in the console. I can't find any such connection. Someone straighten my out here !
Thanks in advance !
Jon
There should be one, My car came stock with a console, the console harness plugs into the dash harness. The plug looks just like the plug that the radio harness plugs into.

'ey 71, Which console/shifter did you use. I have the same setup you used to, and am wanting (badly) to convert. Am just curious what you used and what they came from and how it looks.
Also, For lighting purposed... You can remove your dash and tap into your "printed cicuit board", which powers all the lights in your cluster. That is made to handle a good bit of current. Or you can be lazy and tap into... say... your light for your A/C panel. Just using a manual for color ID. As for the Neutral Safety, shouldn't be to much trouble. Might even be best to intercept it before it reaches the firewall. i.e. run it straight through the hump to the shifter then under the carpet to the ing.
IF possible, could you send what all you did to "suckomj@yahoo.com", or jsut post it hear.
THANKS much.
